Steps to Building a Residential Safe Room.
Building a residential safe room in your home starts with deciding where you want to locate it. You want to choose an area that you can easily access in an emergency. Once you choose the location, it’s just about creating the security in that space. See the steps below in the construction of a safe room. We offer full design services, and all the resources you need to build your safe room just the way you want it.
Choose the Space
After selecting the space you want to convert into a safe room. The first step is to install the wall armor. This is very similar to installing dry wall, but provides a much higher level of security. The above photos shows the wall armor being installed in a master bedroom closet, converting the closet into a safe room.
Design it your way
The next step is to finish the room as you would finish any other room, by adding dry wall, lighting and paint. This is the same room as the photo on the left, with the drywall and lighting installed over the wall armor. The next step would be to furnish the room or closet just as you normally would.
Add your safe room door
The last step to creating a safe room in your home is to add a safe room door. We offer safe room doors in many styles and security levels. We can design the door to emulate your existing doors. We also have many choices for locking the doors, locks can really add many features to your safe room.
Some Other Safe Room Ideas.
Most people feel that safe rooms are only to protect themselves or their loved ones in the event of an emergency. That’s the most important feature, but what about some added features, like protecting your valuables when you are not home? What about creating layers of security that protect entire wings of your home, including your valuables? Feeling that you are safe when you’re at home, and your assets are safe when you’re away, make life more enjoyable and peaceful. With effective design resources, this can be done, sometimes very economically.
This safe room security door has been installed at the entrance of the hallway, securing the entire wing of the home from break ins and other threats. One door in a well placed location can really enhance security.
This master closet safe room has an added safe room vault door to protect the families assets without having to go to the bank. Not all of our clients want this form of security, but we have the resources to give our clients what they do want.
This safe room was designed to have a hidden entrance door. Behind the door is not only a very secure room to secure against violence, but a very safe room to keep assets safe while you're not home.
Safe Room
Any room can be made into a safe room, and if designed and created well, will look, feel, and function as completely normal. We design safe rooms in various levels of protection ranging from U.L. 752 Level 3 (stopping a 44 mag) up to U.L. 752 Level 8, (stopping the AK-47 assault rifle). We design safe rooms, and/or supply materials for contractors, or home owners who want to build them themselves. We have helped many super high net worth individuals, who simply wanted the best, with the design and implementation of safe rooms for both their homes and offices. Most high end custom homes are now coming with a standard safe room, as well as some built with high impact burglary resistant windows. This is just a sign of our times. People want peace of mind, and to know they have very effective security, if it’s ever needed. Safe rooms are fairly easy projects for both new construction or doing a slight remodel to convert an existing room into a safe room. Depending on the layout of your home or office, sometimes a safe room can be accomplished just by adding a bulletproof safe room door, and maybe a couple of sheets of wall armor.
